In this probing DC Bar interview, Justice Ginsburg discusses her early life, her education at Cornell where she met the “love of [her] life,” her passion for social justice, the barriers she faced seeking employment as a woman, a Jew and a mother, her elevation to the DC Circuit and later to the Supreme Court, and the obstacles she confronted along the way.

RBG was a legend in her time. In June of 2013, she was interviewed for the DC Bar series, Legends of the Bar. In this probing and candid interview, Justice Ginsburg discusses her early life, her education at Cornell where she met the “love of [her] life,” her passion for social justice, th barriers she faced seeking employment as a woman, a Jew, and a mother, her elevation to the DC Circuit and later to the Supreme Court, and the obstacles she confronted along the way. This candid conversation displays her humor, insight, love of opera, and passion for tikkun olam—repairing the world.

In 1970, MVHC member Elizabeth Langer co-founded the Women’s Rights Law Reporter at Rutgers Law School. It was the first legal journal devoted to women’s issues in the US. She recruited Professor Ginsburg as faculty advisor.

The film will be followed by Langer’s comments on working with Ginsburg, long before she became “The Notorious RBG.”
